Urban glimpses

Material Story

Amid architectural geometries and urban perspectives, sunlight moves through the city, transforming buildings into living surfaces illuminated by elegant contrasts, where every façade becomes a canvas upon which light and shadow create ever-changing narratives. A wall lying in shadow suddenly comes alive with soft pink reflections, as though the stone absorbed the light only to release it in shimmering tones, evoking the silks by Canepa 1966. Nearby, the wools by Lanificio Robertex are dressed in black and a refined houndstooth pattern that echoes the solemnity of a historic building, austere yet majestic in its composure. In a quieter corner of the city, light filters through the branches of the trees and scatters across the façades, bathing them in shades of beige and grey that reappear in the cotton fabrics by Duca Visconti di Modrone. Further on, another façade is crossed by the low-angled sun, which accentuates its geometric rhythm, while the orange tartan and Prince of Wales checks by Vitale Barberis Canonico seem to clothe its architectural skin with warmth and structure. At the heart of the city, a corner building divides the space between light and shadow, transforming the urban landscape into a play of opposing balances. Its surfaces reflect warm tones reminiscent of the wools by Lanificio Luigi Zanieri, while the cotton and viscose by Tessitura Carlo Bassetti appear to absorb the geometries of the sunlit buildings, as though they were their natural extension. As the light begins to fade, darkness gradually takes over, and a balcony lingers in a soft twilight, recalling the enveloping tones by Pontex Since 1972. Higher above, the alpaca blends by Supermoda capture the day's final glimmers, while the sun brushes only the classical ornamentation of a building, allowing its sculpted details to emerge. At sunset, the colours deepen still further: the architecture holds on to the last rays of light before releasing them in shades of red and brown that are reflected in the fabrics by Stib 19, like an echo of the departing day. Finally, night falls over the city, and the jerseys by Fantasie Tricot envelop buildings now illuminated by street lamps and glowing windows, where life continues to shine with a new, quiet radiance.
