In the stillness that follows the storm, puddles transform the city’s asphalt into magical water mirrors, opening up a new dimension where everything is upside down. A building reflects its rosy shade, like MT1958 by Manifattura Mario Tonetti’s cotton on the pavement, while AGM’s wool blend captures the hues of treetops mirrored in another water surface. If we were to gaze at ourselves in this suspended dimension, it would almost feel as though we could touch an aeroplane crossing the sky, while the emerging stones recall Goretti – Minervahub’s embroideries. Monteoliveto’s black and white lines intertwine like the verticality of a long tree-lined avenue reproduced upon a vast puddle. Raindrops ripple another water mirror, distorting the skyscrapers reflected within it and tinting the surface with the same greyish shades as Manly Interlinings’ recycled polyester. In another corner of the city, CNC Tessuti’s pied-de-poule recalls the warm tones of a reddish skyline against the blue sky, while the leaves of a tree are proudly mirrored in their green colour, like Tessuti & Tessuti’s wool. Sofileta’s delicate fabric echoes the sober beige of buildings along the tramline, while on the zebra crossing, stagnant water captures the glow of a neon sign, evoking MTVV Manifatture Tessili Vittorio Veneto’s vichy barré. As the sun sets, GM Fabrics’ viscose lights up with the marvellous shades of the urban sunset, visible too in the upside-down dimension created by a simple yet romantic puddle.
