Eco buildings

Material Story

Nature finds its place in modern cities. In contemporary architecture with a futuristic feel, vertical and non-vertical corners are dedicated to greenery, contrasting with its coldness and technicality. A subtle interplay of white lines and glassy sky blue from a barré fabric by Impresa Tessile is interrupted by rings of vegetation encircling the building’s levels. The arc of light from a Graf & Co label diffuses into an artificial rain mist in the darkness of the night, filtering through the transparencies of a metallic roof over a neon-lit garden, resembling a space lab from a sci-fi movie. In the city centre, moss grows beneath the smooth surface of a Borgini Jersey + Fashion Jersey fabric. The glass walls act as a large vase for a soft, ever-changing wall of leaves. From a small green space, a grassy window opens up to the vault above, framed by an Arella printed fabric, creating a passage between two worlds. A façade slowly allows itself to be absorbed by nature without resistance, with its still-exposed centre revealing a Majocchi, NT technical fabric. A building splits in two to reveal its interior: a ribbon by Mainetti Reca forms a heart of fresh leaves overflowing from the apartment balconies. Gardens climb the floors of a skyscraper, where patches of knitted fabric by Maglificio Alto Milanese complement the concrete pathways. A vegetal mantle covers the trunks of artificial trees, intertwining with their metallic branches to create the texture of a Riopele Texteis fabric. Hanging gardens lavishly fill the balconies, with a quilt by Trapuntatura Bel Punto - Minervahub melting seamlessly over the building’s levels. In the airport’s forest, a vertical woodland flourishes, with green cascades of an ultra-light fabric by M.I.T.I..
