Even when the sky grows darker and the sand retains the dampness of the night, the sea never loses its identity: its scent, hues and saltiness resurface in the colder, more melancholic guise of winter beaches. Hidden among the grass and mingling with the sand, snow appears as an unexpected presence, translated into the delicate modal and cotton surfaces by Barbosa&Cardoso, while the velvet and canvas by Maibom capture the tones of a damp, almost motionless beach, already poised to welcome the coldest season. Where the sun cannot filter through, the water takes on deeper, more mysterious shades, echoing the colours and textures by Fiveol Textil. Not far away, the soft nuances by Staff Jersey accompany a landscape in which the waves, despite their incessant movement, seem to harbour an almost paradoxical calm. On the shore, a solitary tree emerges from the sand like a natural sculpture, its shapes and grain echoed in the trimmings by NRGY – Staff Ricami – Manifattura Carpigiana. Further on, the whiteness of tweed and the vibrant blue by Lanificio Caverni capture the lines and movement of an icy pier suspended above deep, dark waters. Then, in the stillness before the storm, the sky lowers towards the horizon and its greyness seems to merge with the beach, enveloping it in the same shades as Lanerie Grosber. After the storm, however, the atmosphere brightens, and the grey canvas and white tweed by Tessilgodi seem to gather the landscape’s renewed light, while snow blankets the beach in a muffled, almost unreal whiteness. Where the snow does not reach, the wind stirs the sea and a delicate mist hovers over the water, softening the horizon and translating into the warm beige hues by Cucchetti Tessuti. Finally, as we move away from the shore, the wool and recycled polyester by Gruppo Tessile Imparato capture the tones of the footbridge across the beach that we follow on our way home. And before leaving it behind for good, we breathe in the salty winter breeze one last time, carrying its nostalgia with us.
