High altitude retreats

Material Story

From the Alps to the most remote mountain ranges in the world, high-altitude architecture captivates through its ability to transform harsh environments into welcoming retreats, where wood, light and nature merge in perfect harmony. Overlooking the tranquil waters of a lake, a beautiful residence allows its balcony and timber-clad façade to be reflected on the rippling surface, creating geometries and nuances that echo the patterns by Texta by Fasac. A short distance away, the cotton fabrics by Maibom are dressed in shades of beige and grey, recalling the understated elegance of a mountain church set within a silent landscape. Amid snow-covered peaks, a fairytale-like chalet emerges, seemingly protected by the snow that surrounds it. Its warm and refined atmosphere appears to take shape in the wool and cashmere fabrics by Ermenegildo Zegna, expressions of a discreet and timeless luxury. Inside, the fabrics by Zignone are tinged with grey and tell the story of the winter landscape beyond the windows, where the whiteness of the snow envelops every detail in a sense of suspended tranquillity. Elsewhere, a small timber house welcomes the eye with an elegant decorative curtain dancing in the daylight, evoking the delicate forms and tones of the lace and jersey fabrics by Iluna Group. Within the living space, the classic fabrics by Jozwiak recall the sophistication of a sitting room dominated by black and beige tones, warmed by the glow of a stove that fills the space with a feeling of intimacy and comfort. In another corner of the house, a deep dark armchair stands before a wall clad in wooden boards, creating a textural contrast that finds its counterpart in the quilted fabrics and soft viscose by Pratofabrics by Pratofinish. Further on, a home with retro charm evokes the atmosphere of a bygone era. The prints by Fasac are imaginatively transformed into a window framed by a romantic floral curtain, through which snow-covered ski slopes and mountain panoramas can be glimpsed. Outside, a timber façade rises harmoniously before an alpine meadow, its natural tones reflected in the viscose blends by Estro Tessile. Bringing this journey through architecture and landscape to a close, the beige and sand shades by Essetex Interni evoke a majestic greige timber façade: a symbol of the most authentic mountain aesthetic, where materials converse with nature and every detail contributes to a sense of warmth, balance and timeless beauty.
