From books to walls, the passage of time reveals an unexpected beauty: it does not simply wear objects down, but enriches them with a precious aura made of signs of use, memory and wonderful imperfections. Five books with retro bindings form a delicate colour palette, their shades seemingly resurfacing in the greens by Lamintess. The woollen fabrics by Marton Mills, meanwhile, echo the tactile quality of the grain in an old wooden door which, together with a few twigs, introduces a suspended, mysterious and romantic atmosphere. A concrete staircase, embellished with metal details, seems to preserve on its carpet the memory of countless footsteps. Its warm tones find a natural echo in the canvas fabrics by Eton Textile. The virgin wool by Drago then comes alive in brown shades, from the warmest, earthiest red through to deeper tones, evoking a secluded corner of a wood-panelled house, where time seems to have stood still and vintage objects continue to preserve their stories intact. In a field, an old Chevrolet pickup appears almost asleep, reflecting the blue of its bodywork and the brown of the earth in the canvas fabrics by Fernmoor. On a shelf, the accessories by Metalbottoni come together like the components of a sewing machine from another era: a well-worn, delightfully practical and compact object, capable of transforming nostalgia into function. Elsewhere, other volumes bear the marks of wear on their surfaces, allowing colours and textures to engage in dialogue with the Prince of Wales check and mohair by Marini Industrie. The black, brown and gold by Bottonificio Lenzi 1955 meet instead in the form of an open box, keeper of compasses and magnifying glasses – instruments rescued from oblivion and protected like small fragments of a past still waiting to be explored. On a typewriter, the perfectly round keys, like the buttons by Fimma, surround the letters with a border worn smooth by writing and time, as though every word had left its mark upon the material. Finally, the wool and cotton by Folgarolas Textil lie across a desk like an antique desk mat, above which a notebook of understated charm safeguards manuscripts, notes and thoughts, while time passes, wears away and transforms, turning material into memory.
