Hungarian buildings

Material Story

We wander through Hungarian streets, immersed in a tapestry of styles that interweaves eras and influences: from Gothic to Baroque, through to the sinuous lines of Art Nouveau and the solemn verticality of Neo-Gothic. The Hungarian Parliament Building, overlooking the Danube, welcomes us with its grandeur: its spires soar skywards, seemingly imprinting their verticality upon the fabrics by Teseo. Not far away, the polychrome reflections of the roof of Matthias Church, on the Buda Castle Hill, infuse the jacquards and tartans by Bedini F.lli with vibrant hues. The refined details of the historic Zsolnay Porcelain Manufactory in Pécs resurface in the prints by Mitwill Textiles, like decorative echoes travelling through time. From above, the city of Sopron reveals itself in a weave of red roofs and green canopies – a living urban texture echoed in the jacquards by Monteoliveto. The rich, enveloping atmosphere of the Votive Church of Szeged, with its frescoes and Neo-Romantic decorations, finds resonance in the classical motifs by Tex Athenea. Meanwhile, the jerseys by Maglificio Alto Milanese arrange themselves like arches and stained glass, recalling the elegance of Párizsi Udvar, an architectural jewel in the heart of Budapest. From Fisherman's Bastion, on the Buda Castle Hill, the gaze drifts across towers that speak of ancient origins and suspended panoramas: here, the pastel tones by Inter Jersey Milano evoke an almost fairytale-like atmosphere. The waters of the Danube flow gently beneath the Széchenyi Chain Bridge in the capital, and the milky, aqua-green shades of cotton and lyocell by Dragoni capture their fluid breath. As the day fades, the Parliament glows with golden light, reflecting upon the river and tinting the cottons by Magma Têxtil in cream and deep blue. Finally, in the stillness of night, the elegant patterns by Dutel Création evoke the solemnity of St. Stephen's Basilica: a perfect balance between spirituality and earthly power, preserved within a city that reveals itself, step by step, as a true treasure chest of architectural wonders.
