It is not only the green of forests and the brown of rocks: purple, red and yellow also paint some of the world’s most extraordinary mountains, creating astonishing, almost otherworldly landscapes in which geology becomes a natural palette. Opening this journey is the Serranía de Hornocal in Argentina, whose violet and pinkish strata seem to flow into the sporty jerseys by M.I.T.I., conveying their energy and chromatic depth. In Arizona, the lyocell and viscose by Tessitura Rossi capture the succession of white and reddish contrasts found in the rock formations of Petrified Forest National Park. In Japan, the Nukkakushi crater sets the landscape alight with an intense dialogue of colours: its shades find a striking correspondence in the orange and green fabrics by Les Tissages Perrin. On the other side of the Pacific, the orange and purple tweed and white canvas by Tessitura Attilio Imperiali – Serikos 1984 echo the extraordinary undulating strata of Oregon’s Painted Hills. In Iceland, in the Fjallabak Nature Reserve, the soft hues of the rocks meet the delicate green of the meadows and are translated into the cottons by Olimpias Fabrics. Not far away, the red tartan and mélange sweatshirt fabric by Emil Jersey Fabric and Knitwear Division evoke the strength and muted tones of the volcanic landscape of Sveinsgil, with its almost lunar, primordial appearance. In the Peruvian Andes, snow adds another colour to the palette of the Mountain of Seven Colours, while the deep burgundy and contrasting tones by Santex 24 reinterpret its intensity. Meanwhile, the fabrics by Schmid Milano invite us to linger once more over the details of Oregon’s Painted Hills, capturing the richness of their textures and the complexity of their hues. In the Canary Islands, the desert landscape of Barranco de Los Encantados takes on a warmer, more enveloping character, its arid forms and earthy tones finding a poetic translation in the warm wool and soft camel shades by CM Tessuti, like a tactile caress across the surfaces of the desert. Finally, the velvety purple and luminous black by E-Style accompany the summit of Kôprovský štít in Slovakia’s High Tatras, where the light slowly fades and night envelops the mountain, deepening its colours without erasing its beauty.
