Back to the 50s

Material Story

Close your eyes and allow yourself to drift into the dazzling America of the 1950s, surrounded by gleaming chrome details, glowing neon signs and the unmistakable roar of classic vintage cars. A roaring Mercury Monterey awaits us beneath the trees: its cream-coloured bodywork reflects the light, creating a refined contrast with the deep green of the foliage, the very same chromatic dialogue that animates the jerseys by Sofileta. Inside the car, the corduroy velvet and leather by Leathertex seem to envelop the interior in deep, embracing brown tones, evoking the elegant comfort of automobiles from another era. In the car park of a drive-in diner, a woman slowly sips a milkshake, wrapped in a soft headscarf and leaning against her ice-coloured car with its polished bodywork, recalling the sophisticated shades of the satins by Ifansi in a continuous play of reflections and contrasts. After ordering lunch, the accessories by Fenili arrange themselves with the same harmony as the hot dog and milkshake resting on the tray clipped to the car door, an iconic symbol of American diner culture. Inside the fast-food restaurant, the atmosphere comes alive through the famous red booths and the black-and-white chequered floor, whose geometries and tones are reflected in the wools by Titanus. In one corner of the diner, the embellishments by Officina 3 glow with the vibrant colours of a jukebox ready to fill the air with the irresistible sounds of rock ’n’ roll. Along the white wall, vinyl records follow one another beside the seating, creating a graphic rhythm of black, white and red echoed in the ribbed textures by Positive Materials. Elsewhere, the tartans by Mallalieus ignite in shades of red and beige, recalling the wide skirt of an elegant 1950s outfit worn before a warm brick wall. Nearby, a woman dressed in black drives a blazing red car, its cinematic and intense tones reflected in the wools by Botto Giuseppe. Finally, the fabrics by Schmid Milano are infused with the vibrant lights of a drive-in façade illuminated by neon signs, inviting us to slow down, order dinner and once again immerse ourselves in the overwhelming atmosphere of iconic 1950s America.
