Classical architecture

Material Story

Among majestic vaults, solemn arches and rose windows sculpted by time, classical architecture accompanies us on a journey where rigour and harmony intertwine, giving rise to a continuous dialogue between form, light and decoration. In the heart of the Royal Palace of Naples, the Grand Staircase unfolds its monumental elegance, draped in the delicate shades created by Milior 1895. Not far away, the Greco-Roman-inspired columns of the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco rise with the same grandeur evoked by the corduroy velvets by Beppetex, in a refined encounter of material and colour. In Warsaw, amid the tranquil greenery of Łazienki Park, the Palace on the Isle emerges like a vision suspended above the water, recalling the measured warmth and chromatic balance by Nastrificio Achille Valera Lissoni. Further along, the lines and ornamentation of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris find new expression in the tartans by Texmoda, where contrasts and geometries pursue one another with elegant precision. In London, the light filtering through the atrium of the National Gallery caresses architectural surfaces and details, echoing the tones and textures of the prints by Colori Moda by Tintoria Butti. In Lille, meanwhile, the decorated dome of the Palais des Beaux-Arts diffuses its shades of beige and blue, which seem to come alive once more in the warm fabrics by Sidogras. Milan celebrates classical beauty through the rich ornamentation of the Arco della Pace, whose refined sculptural quality is translated into the three-dimensional patterns by Seterie Argenti. Across the Atlantic once again, the rhythmic verticality of the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco finds its counterpart in the cotton fabrics by Canclini 1925 – Blue 1925, while the elegant decoration of the great arched window of Grand Central Terminal in New York is reflected in the stretch fabrics by Eurojersey, creating a delicate interplay between textile and stone. Finally, the quilting designs by Trapuntatura Bel Punto – MinervaHub appear to capture the essence of the columns and vaults supporting the harmonious curves of the dome of the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco, transforming the memory of classical architecture into a tapestry of forms, reliefs and timeless suggestions.
