Sydney

Material Story

Let us fly to the other side of the world, to the hemisphere where summer is now just around the corner: we are in Sydney, among perfect waves and architecture that has made history. The Sydney Opera House shines in all its majesty, solid and elegant like the durable shoulder pads by Gruppo Uniesse Spalline, while the checked patterns by Quaregna – La Tela di Penelope interlace like a lively urban street where modern skyscrapers converse with historic buildings. Not far away, the Sydney Harbour Bridge dominates the landscape suspended between sea and meadow, with the same sinuosity as the P.M.P. hangers. The red Aurifil spools sit beside white, echoing the charm of the Robertsons Point lighthouse. Along the coast, surfers take advantage of the waves that sketch a subtly bouclé texture, which returns on the canvases by MG2 Création / Philea / Tissage des Chaumes. In the heart of the city, the ties by Andreu.Barcelona mirror the elegant colour palette of the Queen Victoria Building, while the blue of the sky reflects on the windows of the Dr Chau Chak Wing Building at the University of Technology Sydney, whose unique form seems to spill over the precious fabrics by Savino Tessuti Sposa e Cerimonia. The tweed by Tessilgodi, paired with Vichy, creates a harmonious dialogue reminiscent of the contrast between the modernity of skyscrapers and the history that surrounds them. In a square, a sparkling fountain refreshes the feet of a seagull, while its splashes trace in the air the same lively patterns as the recycled cotton ribbons by Simona B.. Finally, as the sun sets, the sky is tinged with yellow, nature grows darker and the laces by Iluna Group seal the very last moment of light, bringing this brief yet intense journey through splendid Sydney to a close.
