Galicia

Material Story

Whether one is walking towards Santiago or simply on holiday, Galicia reveals itself through its historic architecture and the vast green expanses that fade into the horizon. The journey begins at the mosaic of the Rose of the Winds in A Coruña, where the deep blue of the sea blends with the green of the meadows, echoing the refined canvases by Lanificio Roma. The stripes and tartans by Thomas Mason recall the blue tiles of the mosaic and the beige architecture of the Tower of Hercules, giving shape to an interwoven harmony of colours and geometries. Continuing on, we enter a charming alley flanked by buildings whose geometric façades mirror the white and grey checks by Linas. The Panama Trimmings labels appear like signs on the walls, guiding us towards the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. Further along, we find ourselves before the Galerías de la Marina which, with their glass-fronted architecture reminiscent of the lace crafted by Fada Tessuti, have earned A Coruña the nickname “City of Glass”. In the heart of nature, the green and beige tones by Harris Tweed Hebrides spread out like the meadows where cows graze peacefully, while the Monument to the Republican Executed, with its stone sculptures, calls to mind the precision of the packaging by Weavabel. As we move forward, the dark, enveloping tones by Sofileta accompany us to the Puente del Burgo, spanning the River Lérez, while in the streets of Galicia’s picturesque villages the neutral tones of the architecture become tinged with blue and orange, like the fibres of Cafissi’s textiles. Finally, the merino wool by E. Thomas takes on shades of pink and beige, capturing the magic of the sunset near the statue of Breogán in A Coruña, where the journey began and where it ends, leaving us with the vivid memory of an extraordinary land – capable of weaving history, nature and art into an unforgettable experience.
