Yarn gassing

For over 80 years in Osaka, Japan's textile town, we have been adding value to natural fibre spun yarn through processing.

Using our own facilities to perform four types of yarn processing, chief among them the “yarn gassing” where yarn is singed with flame, we employ unconventional approaches and make fine adjustments while monitoring progress to draw out the yarn's inherent qualities. Using this yarn, we create truly unique textiles.

yarn gassing

Each single thread is passed through fire to remove 360-degree fuzz. If we try too hard to suppress fuzz, the thread may burn or scorch; if the flame is too gentle, some fuzz remains. Adjusting the flame and the speed at which the thread passes requires exceptional skill and experience, and our master artisans, recognized for their world-class expertise, achieve the perfect burn every time. Using these threads, we create fabrics that are exquisitely smooth and wonderfully soft to the touch.
