80s throwback

Material Story

A dive into the glorious ’80s, whose memories are passed down from generation to generation. The trip back in time begins with placing a vinyl record on the turntable, its label the same pink as Rossoforte’s eco-friendly linen blend. As the record spins and its music fills the air, memories start resurfacing – afternoons spent calling friends on rotary dial phones as colourful as the stripes by Balli Il Lanificio. We also had fun working out in gyms, listening to music on portable stereos with headphones, dressed in lurex leggings and glittery leotards made of stretchy fabric by Mida 1975. Couples met at roller rinks, their decor in the iconic colours of the era, forming whimsical patterns like those on the printed canvas by Fasac. Friends gathered in arcades, where the glow of arcade machines was bathed in predominantly purple LED lights, just like the recycled fibre puffer jackets by Thermore - Gruppo Fisi. Capturing a photo amid the colourful lights, with a purple background and a vibrant subject, created a unique pattern akin to that on the viscose-blend satin by Neon 1872. Perhaps, the mood shifted, and it was time to swap the record for a Duran Duran EP, its white and pink label shimmering with light effects as extravagant as the zippers by Unizip. These moments bring back memories of a stolen kiss in a photo booth, with only jeans and sneakers visible from outside, an atmosphere reminiscent of the ribbons designed by Nastrificio De Bernardi. Meanwhile, some friends embraced the punk style, pairing skirts with ripped tights and red quilted jackets similar to the cotton-silk fabric by Microtex Cotton Club. But, sadly, the ’80s, with their Brooklyn chewing gum and the brightly coloured, extravagant sweaters that mirror the bold patterns by Maglificio Ripa, remain just a wistful memory.
