The Belgium’s skies

Material Story

Belgium’s skies are never the same: they are in constant transformation, reflecting upon the surfaces of its cities and covering every place with a soft and diffused light.. Beneath ever-changing clouds, figures move with natural ease, as in the square of Saint Nicholas' Church in Ghent, where the presence of the Ferris wheel enlivens the atmosphere with bright, vibrant touches, much like the ribbons and labels by Formeidee. The richly toned trimmings by Nastrificio De Bernardi, meanwhile, recall the long branches of trees intertwining in Minnewaterpark in Bruges, creating a visual interplay of lines and natural weaves. The Royal Palace of Brussels, together with its orderly gardens, suggests a more rigorous and composed aesthetic, echoed in the precise geometries of the labels by Cadica. The deep hues of the woollen fabrics by Leichtfried Loden evoke the landscape of the dam on the Vesdre River in the city of Eupen, where water and land meet in dense, enveloping tones. The misty, wintry landscapes of the Belgian countryside are reflected in the innovative textiles by ITS Artea, capable of conveying that same suspended, rarefied atmosphere. The majestic Poortersloge – the Burghers’ Lodge in Bruges – emerges in warm, deep tones, recalling the brick and dark blue shades of fabrics by Eurojersey. In Brussels, the Atomium, built for the Expo 58, with its structure of spheres and metallic tubes, brings to mind the brilliance of the silver accessories by Ocean. The ties in shades of orange and blue by Fumeo Carlo evoke the sunsets that accompany the journey home, when the light warms and gradually envelops the streets. Moving towards the coast, a solitary lighthouse rising among tall grass suggests a sense of quiet, echoing the labels by Piovese Fashion. Finally, the Belfry of Bruges stands out with its imposing presence, recalling the structured fabrics by Henry Bertrand.
