Springtime in the Netherlands

Material Story

As the days grow longer and the fields fill with flowers, the magic of the Dutch spring becomes almost tangible, capable of turning a simple walk into a poetic journey through colours, hues and lights that change with every step. Morning light brushes a charming row of little houses, tinting them with the same brown and red shades as Angelico, while the first rays illuminate the Milior 1895 fabrics, creating the delicate contrast of a field of pale pink hyacinths. A little further on, tulips – the pride of the Netherlands – reflect their white, pink and purple tones on the cotton and viscose by Tex Athenea. In front of a quiet canal, beige tartan intertwines with the greens by Estethia G.B. Conte – Marzotto Group fabrics, evoking a lush, perfectly kept residential district. Among the countryside fields, an endless expanse of red tulips unfolds beneath a crystal-clear sky, recalling the delicacy of Deveaux’s patterns. The fresh Somelos Tecidos cottons arrange themselves like the road of a postcard village, where the architecture appears to be draped in climbing plants. In the vivid green meadows, the iconic windmill cannot be missed: its house wears the red and black tones of Halley Stevensons cotton, while at sunset the floral jacquard and stripes by Intesa C take on the colours of the sky as it sinks over a field of daffodils. Where the sun disappears, other windmills stand reflected in the calm waters, allowing the Quorum canvases to take on their shades. And finally, the Albini 1876 tartans dress themselves in the blue and brown tones of a splendid city skyline glowing over the sea – the perfect close to an unforgettable spring day.
