Longing for Africa

Material Story

Returning from a safari in Africa, we allow the photographs to carry us once more into those endless horizons and those indelible views of untouched wilderness. Dawn brushes the steppe with a shy, golden light – the same glow that seems to tint Pontex Since 1972’s cotton canvases. The beige and green patterns by Sedatex settle like the memory of a young leopard who, dozing on a tree branch, seemed in no hurry to wake. On a shore washed by the sea, a group of penguins had taken over the beach – cheerful and chaotic, like a handful of buttons by Pedrini Buttons scattered across the sand. The greens and beiges by Brito Knitting bring us back to the long road stretching between silent mountains, immersed in the breath of nature. In a clearing, three cheetahs had gathered, evoking Europrint’s lively designs, and the cotton by Destro Fabrics takes on the same greens and browns of the savannah, still beneath the blazing sun. Further ahead, an avenue of gigantic baobabs lifted their trunks towards the sky like ancient columns, recalling the subtle tone-on-tone textures by Fasac. As the sun began to sink, Techprint’s patterns found again the hues of the sun-scorched bushes, among which the long neck of a graceful giraffe appeared. Then, at dusk, an elephant moved slowly forward, forming a dark silhouette against a sky turning yellow, like the lyocell and cotton by Marini Industrie. And finally, as night blended with the last glow of day, the red polka dots and yellow-brown patterns on the canvases by Colori Moda by Tintoria Butti conjure one of the most beautiful sunsets of all – the one etched into the heart like a distant call, that deep and aching feeling they call Africa Calling.
