Venice in masks

Material Story

Elegant historical masks walk among the palaces and cross the bridges of the lagoon city. Characters from tradition take shape during Carnival. Arabesque designs of a lady's costume are imprinted on the shaded fabric of Tessitura Attilio Imperiali - Serikos 1984. The great craftsmanship of the workshops covers the walls in gold and black, inspiring a Seride fabric just as the glittering curly lines on a papier-mâché face inspire a regal embroidery by Bella Tela. A mysterious costume makes its way through the crowd with its Galeottipiume feather crest. Some raised details enliven the smooth, pearly faces like the turquoise pattern on the orange uniform by Cavalleri & C.. A peach bouquet fills the lace by Pizval while the richness of colours and textures intertwine in a fabric by Lanerie Grosber. There are no limits to the imaginative splendour; richly decorated fabrics and colours create an atmosphere of bygone times, everyone preparing for the grand ball. Fasac covers the violet velvet with glitter while a sophisticated pattern gives substance to white in a fabric by Bedini F.lli. Crystals and beads are meticulously placed in a three-dimensional embroidery by Jato - Minervahub. An explosion of opulence and grandeur permeates the festive days in Venice.
