Material Story

Stunning and daring buildings create a contemporary cityscape. Quirky, pointed developments resemble exhibits in a life-size museum. An eye-catching new normal breaks with traditional thinking. Arché red frames the glass walls of new apartment blocks. Soaring towers rise above the roofs of brick buildings like massive columns with geometrically flawless surfaces as smooth and white as the fabric by Beppetex. Tessitura Rossi’s intense black is inspired by the brutal architecture of a building cut in half, while Staff Jersey is mirrored in the reflective glass windows of an engineering work teaming illusion and matter. An enormous metal sculpture bends harmoniously like Nastrificio De Bernardi’s ribbons, simulating cutting-edge constructions. Concrete and metal alternate between lighter, sleeker forms and more robust shapes. Imaginary construction lines intersect perpendicularly in a fabric by Lanificio Piemontese. Walls reveal lozenges and folds like an opened sheet of origami paper in silk white like Tessitura di Novara. Curious windows lean out like so many peepholes over the city. A nice touch that softens the cuboid, rather like the pink weft in the black warp by Esthetia G.B. Conte - Marzotto Group / Harris Tweed Hebrides. The eyes are drawn towards the vanishing point, endless lines running vertically like the corduroy by Duca Visconti di Modrone. The tour ends with a slanting profile sliding through an orderly array of windows, resembling a pale blue jersey jacquard by CFM / RDD Conscious Fabrics Makers.
