The autumnal equinox takes nothing away from the charm of beaches, which become a kind of landscape oxymoron in winter. The salty sand discontinuously melts the December snow, creating plays of colour that inspire a yarn-dyed fabric by Giannetti Piero Lanificio. The beach is empty of bathers but walkers occasionally make an appearance on their daily stroll. Bikes carve out continuous lines like Nastritessuti ribbons under patchy clouds, which obscure the light recalling an irregularly velvet fabric by Pontoglio 1883. The little stones on a pebble beach create brown nuances on an ecru sand base, resembling a fabric by E.Miroglio EAD - Brand SEM. The sky darkens and the stormy water turns black. Violent waves crash into white foam, inspiring a pattern by E.Miroglio EAD - Brand Miroglio Lana. Dutel Création draws the gaze to the dark sea still whipped up by the wind, with choppy waves creating little auras of droplets. A cliff is covered with the geometric pattern of a So.Tex.Co. International fabric, black rock emerges from under the snow blanketing the landscape. Frayed ribbons by Manifattura Modenese look like snow-covered blades of grass, like a meadow frozen overnight or the shore where the sea has left all its flora after the storm. Despite the cold days, the sun shines and the waters become calmer, simulating a quiet spring day. As it sinks back, the wave leaves its footprints on the wet sand as compact as the woolly fleece by Texco. Further out, mountains rise sharply from the sea. The velvet-coloured slopes of TBM are marked by the ocean’s gradually corrosive action.
