THE SAXON CLUB
The Saxon Merino breed, ancestor of modern Australian merino sheep, produces wool of very high quality and has a regal history that goes back to the eighteenth century, spreading through the courts of Europe from Spain to the Electorate of Saxony. Eventually, it came to the attention of a woman named Eliza Forlonge, who, in the mid-1800s, introduced a small flock to Australia, where she discovered the ideal environmental conditions for breeding them.
Over the years, Vitale Barberis Canonico has blended this fine, prized fibre with other wools for its iconic textiles; now it is offering it in its pure form for the first time in a winter capsule of winter fabrics.
